Hybrid Model of Engagement
Igniting The Young Minds
Learning by experiencing it is demonstrated through gardening activity. The participants in a cohort of small size go through a guided journey during 21 weeks to grow the plant of their choice. Mathematical concepts like measurements, Physics of shapes, sizes, colours and its values, Chemistry of soil, seeds, leaves, and flowers or fruits, Biological transformations of plant as a life and a lot more wonders of nature are unleashed through real-world activities. Student as a Farmer encounters all the challenges of growing a food, solves the problems and achieve the objectives set for himself. A series of bite-sized learning contents delivered on his mobile phone help him navigate through the flow.

A student from Chandana School, Sirsi shared his work
A timeline between August 15, 2021 to Jan 14, 2022 was scheduled for a batch of 150 students of the rural school, class 8 and 9. All of them were given a wood container - ArecaPot with a challenge to grow the plant from a seed to the harvest cycle. They did it at home, but monitored by the school coordinator for the day to day activities and progress. Like a farmer's experience, some seeds did not germinate at all, few plants died in their early stage, other few were infected by the pests and of course all sorts of challenges during these 21 weeks. The full filled experiential learning was navigated by the bite-sized contents delivered on their mobile in a dedicated and exclusive WhatsApp group.
Finally, the outcome was amazing indeed!!
